How to clean gunk from inside of rims?

I just used some 3M adhesive remover today to take some tar off of one of my Virgo wheels. It's actually called "Adhesive, Tar, & Wax remover", and it works quite well. Try WD40 if you have some of that around, or even kerosene or gasoline might work.
