I have a tool that separates the ball joint from the spindle (either or
both ball joints on the 140/164). It does this without damage to the
balljoint and is simple to use. If interested e-mail me offline at

Instructions come with it.
BTW if you haven't read the manual on this job you should. It can be
pretty dangerous because a LOT of energy is stored in the compressed spring.
