Internal engine expert needed 700

I have been working for months to come up with the money to build an engine for my 85 760 turbo. My machine shop has left .004 in. clearence for the piston. The pistons I bought are mahle .024 in. oversize. The recomended clearance by Mahle is .02mm(.00078 in.) Volvo says the clearance should be .0004 in. min to .0012 in. max. Did this redneck machine shop ruin my block and whole project??

85 volvo 760 turbo that thre a rod 1 mile after purchase
extra replacement engine that was worn over .0030 in. (WORTHLESS)
2nd block (plus all machine work done to it)
vx cam shaft
adjustable cam gear
oil pump
gasket sets
boost gauge
A pillar pod
boost controler
ported and polished head
valves adjusted
bearings
oil breather hose
hours and hours of agrivation and work
Please let me know where I stand. About 5K is alot of money when you work at a food store for 5$ an hour.
