I determined TDC by removing the plug and inserting a small steel scale (about 1/4 inch wide and 6 inches long) and feeling the top of the piston moving up and down. My assistant rotated the flywheel back and forth until I was "centered" on the piston starting to move back down when the flywheel was rotated. This corresponded to about 4°-6° of crank rotation. Since I have 8 possible possitions on the crank (45° increments, I'm pretty sure that I got the right position.

I will check my Bently to see if there a way to check to see if the sensor is operating correctly. Thanks.
