Diesel transplant INTO a 240?

It's a really nice silver 760GLE 4-dr sedan. It has all it's lights, plastic, trim, etc. I was thinking of buying it till I went around the back and saw TurboDiesel on it... and I'm not afraid of the engine, since it's the VW Rabbit/ golf derived 6. I'm afraid of the godawful unrepairable ZF transmission that's lurking under there. I didn't check the year- I'm guessing it's an 85. Body was straight and rust free, as far as I could see- didn't get under it. It's at Michaels Towing on Bank St. in New London, CT. I don't have their number here at work but I have it at home if you are still interested.
