You are so Lucky 700 1989

You said:

"I would have thought that too- only problem with that theory is it's been going on for 2 weeks or so and I haven't had any drop in the reservoir level. Next?"

I would have interpreted that as a dump on John Sargent, implying that he knows not of what he speaks. John is one of the Gurus on this board, and also enough of a gentleman to ignore your implied insult.

Two things on this board (1) never assume someone is wrong until you know to whom you speak and have referenced proof, and (2) never assume that a post is perfectly accurate and that you can follow it without using your own common sense. E.G.: Don't jack up the engine using a bottle jack on the drain plug.

Test your master cylinder at every stop light. After you're stopped, back off a little on the brake pedal and see if it can be slowly pushed towards the floor. If yes, the MC is failing, and do not push the pedal too far.

Hard pressure causes the seals on the piston to flare out and seal tightly. Reduced pressure allows their weakness to let fluid bypass the piston - just like that example of the hypodermic syringe.

Good Luck,

Bob
