The problem is that my speedo works only some of the time. If I smack the dashboard, particularly the left-hand side (the car's RHD) then the speedo will often leap into life, sometimes staying operational for quite a while.
I assumed it was the head unit because of the response to hitting the dash, but since I noticed the apparently bigger effect of hitting on the left hand side (the side where the wiring loom interior to engine bay connectors are)I'm not so sure.
I've checked the resistance which came out at 810 ohms. That's quite different to 2950; are you sure that all models had the same? I noticed a post on the 850 list stating a value of 1820 for them. Or could there be a wiring fault (rather than sensor fault)which would account for the low value temporarily cured when the dash is thumped? Of course I could have multiple faults :-(
Also why do you need to use an analogue meter to test the output, I only have a digital meter, though I may be able to borrow one.
Cheers
Matt
