Help with my 87' 240DL (automatic) 200 1990

The reason it might have been running high in low gears is due to a stuck overdrive cable. There are 2 cables on the throttle spindle. One goes to the gas pedal and the other is the kickdown cable. It happened on mine too. I lubed the cable with some synthetic oil and WD-40. It loosened it up and is working fine now. Eventually it will need replacement. I recommend replacing it. On my buddy's, he disconnected this cable. Seems to be working fine for him.

A no start situation could be either ignition or fuel. I am not sure how to shcek for a spark, but be very careful, it can give you a real nasty shock. The fuel pump starts humming when you trun the ignition to 'On'. Some others on this board are very knowledgeable in this field

Cheers,
SM
