Help with my 87' 240DL (automatic) 200 1987

The shift problem is not related to the no start condition. Locate the fuel pump relay (it is under the soft panel above the passenger side knee). It is a white cube with a wiring harness attached. As you try to crank, hold the relay in your hand and feel for a "click". If no click, check fuses 4 and 6. If it clicks and the pumps don't run, remove the relay and add a jumper wire between the red wire and the yellow/red wire, the pumps should run. If they do, replace the fuel pump relay with a new one. If they don't, check for voltage to the red wire. If voltage is present, check the wiring to the pumps. If wiring is OK, you have a loose ground to the pumps, or the pump(s) is defective.
