problems with my 760 turbo 700 1989

Since the tach drops to zero, it indicates a problem with the ignition system. Inspect the Hall effect wiring connector on the bottom of the distributor. When the plasic in this electrical connector gets old and brittle, it breaks and the Hall effect connection is left hanging by the three little wires going to the sensor in the distributor. We had exactly the same problem six years ago in my wife's 1986 745T.
