Before I remove the fan, I loosen the fan shroud and slip down a panel of cardboard cut to the size of the radiator so to protect those delicate fins before I play with the fan blades and have falling wrenches, unwieldly fan/clutch in hand, etc.

Also, if you happen to have one of those rachetting type box wrenches in 10mm size, undo-ing those fan clutch nuts is the one place on the entire car I wish I had such a tool.

Another tip: Keep notes on how the protective sleeves, etc. on the crankshaft pully come off. they must be aligned facing a certain way to protect the new belt, but not chafe it. That gear is also "keyed" to fit onto the shaft at a specified position. It'll all be clear to you, just pay attention.

Also, when lining up the new belt, wrap it clockwise around the top of the crankshaft gear before checking mating marks. By doing this, you are simulating
what the belt tensioner does (you won't have the tensioner installed yet). As I recall from doing my last belt, One oof the alignment marks on the belt "hangs in midair" until you do this and you wonder, "Gee, do I have everything aligned?" This pulls that mark over to the mark on the gear.
