I used a silicone glue, Elmer's I think, about 5 years ago on a loose '90 740 wagon lens, with a cracked border. It's held up well, even in a damp northern climate--salt & snowy roads. I did clean all edges thoroughly beforehand with denatured alcohol and a toothbrush, however.
