Front shock mount question 700

I was unaware the dust boot, shock mounts, etc...did not come with shocks when I bought them. I had no choice but to rebuild because the 45 ball bearings can and did end up on the floor. Part of the game is to find them all!!

The mounts look to be nothing more than two tupperware lids that fit together. Put grease in one half and place all the ball bearings in the grease. Place a little more grease in the other half and fit the two pieces together. Replace the strut. Works like a champ.

Other posters ask why you would have to rebuild and that is a valid question. I had to rebuild only one of mine as the other was still in tact when I decompressed the spring to remove the strut.

New ones BTW were $100 (USD).

Hope this helps.
