Wiper motor sounds like machine gun!!!!

If you've got broken teeth on your gear (which it sounds like) they
will be hard to fix. Possibly the gear is turned on the shaft
and going too far, or bushing wear is allowing it to go too far, etc.
You are pretty definitely going to have to take it out and a spare to
replace it with while you fix it will give you more time to work on it.
