Diesel

That Volkswagen engine is amazing. I drove an Audi A3 stick shift Turbo diesel a while back, it really motors. My mum needed a new (used) car. The one I drove wouldn't rive in a straight line because of accident damage, the package still impressed though.

It's so tempting this modern technology, in the end we bought a Mercedes C Class 180 Sport for my Mum. It averages 32 miles to the imperial Gallon. When accelerating hard the autobox doesn't change into top gear until it's doing nearly 100MPH. It cruises effortlessly at hopelessly illegal speeds. I keep thinking I could probably buy a mechanically sound insurance write off for less than I could build a really state of the art big bore B20 for, especially if you went the aftermarket fuel injection route on the B20.

Regards

Pete
