parts imported in canada

I have used fcpgroton

And IPD

Both with good success. They both provide great "on-the-phone" support, and

fcp is a bit better price wise
IPD has more performance gear.

As far as the border - I have the advantage of having family in the USA.

I time my trips to coincide with an order, and then I keep my order under the limit for the time I am there ($200/person - 48 hrs or more).

What will rob you at the border is Brokerage fees.

Convert your purchase to CDN $$'s. Add GST and Provincial sales tax (if applicable).

The difference in brokerage fees depends on the carrier.

UPS and Fedex are quite pricey. US POST - Canada Post are less.

But call each carrier and confirm - give them the Canadian value, and ask for a quote on brokerage.

I had a $1.75 USD part sent up from the USA. Wasn't even a purchase - it was sent as a back-order (the original part had fallen out of the package due to package freight damage. The brokerage fee was $7.50. I declined the order and let them send it back.

If you have friends or family on the US side near the border - consider my system. If 4 people (kids, ok) go across for a 4 day weekend (48 hours) you can bring back $800 CDN of parts - as long as it is not one $800 part.

Also - any USA manufactured parts have no duty - NAFTA et al.
Import/offshore parts have duty as well as GST/PST.

It is not worth it to try and "smuggle" anything across - the risk is not worth the small savings in $$'s.

Example of savings - 240 inner tie rod,

Price at several CDN jobbers $96.00 - price from fcpgroton - $19.00 USD.

At these savings the value adds up quickly.

Good Luck

Good Luck

Good luck.
