Replaced the belt in my '95 960 a couple of weeks ago at 240,000 km
I carefully lined up the timing marks and added my own to the crank pulley because the original was hard to see (easier once the belt was off) before undoing anything.
The idler was sounding dry. The bearing was still smooth running, so I removed it, popped off the grease seal/dust cover, cleaned out the old grease and applied new. Same for the pulley on the tensioner.
No rocket science. Pretty straight forward.
