changing timing belt... whats this dowel pin for?? 200 1993

I am in the middle of changing the timing belt an my 93, when going to remove the crank seal, I noticed an 8mm x 16mm dowel pin laying in the ottom of the timing belt cover, I have been searching for a location for this but cant seem to find it. What is it for???
