changing timing belt... whats this dowel pin for??

its a solid dowel pin, the tensioner pin is there, it could be an alignment pin for the cover, just wanted to make sure it wasnt something for the alignment of the crank timing gear or crank pulley, but those are all keyed. BTW, the volvo tool for crank pully bolt removal is awesome.
