Wont Start

I've had similar problems in the past on very cold winter mornings (NH) in my 91 940 GLE. Car would start up and start to sputter. Only flooring it would keep it sputtering till it finally started running normally. I didn't have the aluminum hose attached that sends heated air to the air box when the engine is cold. Just installed a new one a month ago, hopefully that will help this winter.
I've also heard a dirty throttle body can contribute to similar problems.
