Emergency Brake kind of a Drag

IMVHO, there isn't a problem.

Sure, the cable can freeze and not release in winter weather. It is part of driving mythology that parking brakes can do this, and therefore it is bad practice to use them in the winter(except in dire extremity). I didn't do it with my 122s, don't do it now with my 240.

If you don't trust the engine's compression to hold the car in gear when it's below freezing, turn the front wheel into the curb or use wheelchocks.
