What are your thoughts on the 960?

Hi,

I own a '97 960 sedan and is tbe best car I have owned/driven. I put more than 50K miles (right now 80K) since I bought it and fixed some minor things after warranty expired.

It needs to be maintained regularly. If not, can come back and bite you. Being aware of potential problems is important and knowing a competent independent shop will be helpful in reducing $$$$ needed to fix broken things. Usage of synthetics all around and Volvo coolant will keep the car healthy.

960 series receive a lot of rap on this board and elsewhere for the early problems(like block porosity though it is not that widespread) and disregarding maintenance schedule by the owner. There are lot of owners who don't report how nice their cars and most of the ones you see here are trying to fix/get advice on broken things.

That is my $0.02 !!!
