Thanks Everyone

2 grand IS a good deal..maybe too good even for 160K. Get the VIN number from the dealer and call Volvo NA Customer Service. Tell them you are looking at this car, but it has no records and that you'd like to talk to a service manager about. its service records.

They may be able to give you a lead as to where it had been serviced, or at least put in service. They can also tell you a few things about the car from their own records.

Have it carefully inspected by a competent dealer/indy mechanic who knows 960s, unless you feel comfortable doing so.

I love my 92 (and my 97) and it's been pretty trouble-free. Just make sure that the timing belt has been changed..should have been changed at 160K, if I'm doing my math right. If there is no dealer sticker on the timing belt cover to that effect, change it before you leave the dealer...see if you can include it in the price. Check the tensioner too..no oil leaks on it.
