Well, the 740 where perhaps designed for a more comfortable ride, so if you're into racing, then I suspect the 240 is a better choice but for every day driving, the 740 is better and can certainly be made quite stiff and fast. The black trimmings should be quite cheap from a scrap yard, but will have to paint the fixed bits black. I would myself suggest buying a 740 Turbo as you get more options and the black trimmings as well as better suspension, if the engine is bad you replace it or repair it. The turbo cars used the M46 which is the 4 speed plus overdrive which is a much stronger gearbox than the ture 5 speed M47. The later M90 is better than the M46 but the M46 is good enough.
