transmision hack job 700

Sounds like that tranny shop has no clue as to what there doing, the free movement of the shifter assembly is because it was not hooked up propery, i knwo this for a fact i made the mistake when putting mine back in, theres 2 rods below the car on top of the transmission one is there to hold the entire assembly in place but can also be adjusted, the other is your actuall shifting rod it moves when you move the gear shift, the reason its loose is theres a rubber bushing on those rods with a pin that goes through them and then a clip that holds it all together anyone who's worked on volvo transmissions know this hell anyone who sells the parts knows this, you can if you feel like it easly fix that i just took a nut and bolt and put it through the hole tightend it down and fixed that problem very easy. You also may want to check and make sure you have a rebuilt transmission under there from what you said these guys just might be the shadyest shop ive heard of in a long time, check for leaks and look around the pan, ext housing ETC and see if the seals look new, i remember when i went looking for a Rebuilt transmission and just for the transmission itself i was looking at 1 grand so the fact all that work you have done plus parts labor etc thats honestly not enough you should have paid more in parts alone, i remember i picked up a USED transmission from a junk yard for $300 and that was a burn victim ( still working 20 thou later two and didnt do anything but change the fluid ). Best thing you can do at this point is take it to a Transmission Shop that wil do a free inspection, dont tell them anything just tell them the car rumbles alittle get the inspection done get a written write up drive down the street to another and do the same, typiclay from what i have found is that the ones who are willing to do the free inspections do better work there alittle more but the work is better because they know your going to there compettitior for another estimate and they dont want you wipping out the form saying the guy down the street said this. The power stearing hell they did you near it by the way, the transmission lines run just above the power stearing pump, they probly hit it when putting the lines back in, inspect your radiator for damage, some shops seem to forget to remove them and when dropping the transmission it pulls the radiator off it supports. Also the starter HAS to be removed in order to remove the transmission, the 2 bolts that hold the starter in ALSO hold the tramission front bell housing in place, so yes they did remove the starter to get your transmission out, so check the connections on the starter. If you need any help let me know i spent 6 months working on my transmission till i decided i was going to rebuild the entire thing, unfortunally the used one i bought has worked so well i never put it in.
