Alternators 1800 1971

Are there any benefits to upgrading the 35 amp alternator in my 1971 1800E to a 55 amp alternator? At the advice of the alternator guy, I have already replace my Bosch 35 amp with a SEV Machel 55 amp. Thoughts?
