handbrake problem 700 1990

I wouldn't worry too much. You would have to REALLY overtighten that plastic nut for the problem you describe to be a risk, and I'm not even sure the nut can be tightened that much without coming off the threads.

However, while you had the brakes off I think I would have roughed up the ebrake shows a little bit to make sure theyr aren't glazed or anything. Doubtful from the fact that you said it's really lose, but you never know.
