Performance Problem? 700 1988

I don't think there is anything "wrong"...

As it was explained to me by a Volvo guru in Eastern PA... the higher octane fuels detonate differently so you would need to retard/advance your timing to take advantage of the fuels performance. I'm sure there is a scientific approach to this, but it escapes me.

I'd say stay with the 87 octane your car was designed for.
