You aren't supposed to put anything less than 91 in a volvo turbo. Running lower octanes can cause all sorts of problems. I once did this and I thought my turbo had died. Turned out that the lower octane had just reduced the power, etc.

A higher octane will also keep your engine cleaner and in better shape.
