AMM or ECU or connectors?

1987 245 w/B230, engine starts & dies immediately. Idles with AMM disconnected but will not "limp home" --- not driveable with AMM disconnected --- stalls as soon as I touch accelerator pedal. Ohmmeter says that AMM's electrical specs seem okay. But I have a bad feeling about it. How do I determine which is the culprit? ECU, AMM, or something else?
