Could it be my ignition coil? 700

Symptoms sound very much like what my son went through with his '90 740 GLE (16 valve) with about 300,000km (180,000mi). Yes the coil was the problem. It shouldn't be too difficult to borrow one from a friend or from a wrecker just to confirm the diagnosis. Or even buying one from a wrecker wouldn't cost much - $25 maybe? I'm not sure, but it seems to me that one coil is pretty much like another. Pull one from any Volvo in the yard.
