Thanks for the advice - I think I'll give the silicone fluid a shot - seems like as good a time as any to try it. I might as well do the clutch hydraulics while I'm at it and make a clean break. Funny how last Tuesday's bright idea of renewing the brake fluid has mushroomed into a bit more work! That underseal will have to wait...
