My car is moaning! No, really. Help requested. 700 1988

Hi Landon, re the moaning noise, the centre bearing suggestion seems good. Failing that, this may sound a bit daft, but is the engine undertray split and catching the airflow as the car goes along? Or if you have a roofrack, this can cause the same noise if one of the crossbar plastic endbungs has come out...its like blowing across a bottle mouth. Sometimes tyres can suddenly cause a similar noise once wear gets to a certain point, even if they were quiet before. If your car has independent rear suspension, perhaps one of the rubber gaiters on the CV joints (which may be fixed at one end and loose-round-shaft at the other end) needs a bit of rubber-lube to stop a low- to higher-pitch juddering as the driveshaft turns within it. Also a dying wheel bearing can cause this kind of noise. This is hard to isolate, but sometimes if you jack the wheel up off the ground and spin it you may hear something suspicious. Hope this helps! Good luck.
