Thank you for the info.
Will get under there later today. I remember seeing those balls and the colored tubes in a torn up 960 or S90 at the junk yard. There was a manifold and what looked like a solonoid module to control the vacume out to the various points. Seem to remember 6 lines connected to it. Yikes! Without specifics I think i now have an idea how the system works. It would seem logical that this is a vacume system failure rather than a sensor or electronic fault.
Do you know how many servos or devices are under control of that module?
As I stated the system does hold a vacume so as my first test I am going to apply and hold a vacume with my hand pump (it has a guage) to the vacume supply line at the firewall. I will then manipulate the vent control and determine what positions might cause the vacume to leak off or maintain. This may also lead me to a particular servo. Will also check to see if the vacume operates the heater water valve on the firewall.
Oh yes 1 more question. When at the junk yard I seem to remember seeing what looked like a motor operated lever that looked as if it controlled a vent or flap. It was up above the solonoid nodule. Do you know what that is? Perhaps for recirculate function?
Must get the manuals for this car.
