SRS fault code...only one digit 700 1990

Sometimes the code can trip from a bad ground or voltage irregularity while driving (bad connection at battery or whatever). However, that type of problem usually allows you to reset the code, and you seem to have a different problem. I'll have access to the SRS manuals on Saturday if I'm lucky, and I'll have a look to see what it is.

You're right; the three digit codes were introduced with the introduction of the pyrotechnical seat belts.
