Paint Prep Question 200

If you decide to go to Maaco---Id suggest you do the following--
(1) Remove all trim mouldings and emblems from the body.
(2)sand out/ fill in any deep scratches that are present now
(3) address any areas requiring rust repair--if within your abilty
(4) If you have any dents to be fixed--and not within your capablities to do your self--make sure you point them out to them and make sure they know what you expect to be done and get it in writing.
(5) make sure they paint it the right color--and not a color from their wall chart/ menu--unless that is not important to you.
(6)buy new moulding clips for any clips you break while removing them--most will break and go easy on body side molding while removing as they bend
Iv seen many cars painted at maacco--mixed results as they have a large turnover due to the peanuts they pay their employees--ask around and go to a maacco that has good reputation-ther are a few--and then make sure you communicate what you expect for the price you are paying-good luck and remember--improperly repaired rust will reaapear real soon
