I wouldn't question reliability ... sure, over time, more things will need attention in the Volvo, but that's moreso because it's got an 8-year headstart.

Volvo's are pretty friendly for DIY repairs, but even if not, repair costs are nowhere near what a car payment would amount to. In the long run, you'll save a lot more with the Volvo than the Saab.

Not factored in are the Saab repair bills. My boss' 9-3 Convertible has tallied up more in maintenance costs than the purchase of three of my Volvo's and maintenance on all four.
