Winter Mode Failure? S90-V90

Are both "W" and "E" at the AT shifter flashing in a sequence or is it just "W" that is flashing? If both W and E are flashing and your UP arrow on the dashboard is on, the (in)famous PNP switch is the most likely cause of your symptoms. Do a search on PNP switch and you will find tons of references in 900 and S90/V90 forums. It is very common for the PNP switch to fail during the winter time. Mine failed more than a year ago, in December. We went on vacation and did not drive the car for a week. The first day I drove my S90 after we came back, I noticed the flashing W/E and the arrow ... What is the mileage of your car?
