I got a rebuilt motor for my 86 245 DL and changed it out. Some guys are going to tell you to take the old motor apart. I did that and parts shot everywhere. Grabbed one at the pick ur parts and had other issues with it. $48.00 got me a rebuild and no more slow.
You will have to pull the glove box, several phillips screws to remove. You will also need a 10 mm socket wrench. There is a clip on the end of the motor that connects it to the drive arm. You will have to remove that clip and the nut and drop the arm loose before you try to remove it from under the hood.
There is a black sealant that keeps water from getting inside the firewall. Lossen the 4 bolts on the housing under the hood and it should lift off.
Use the Chilton install as you removed it, to reinstall.
I used electronic grade RTV to reseal the hole the motor passed through. There is this doughnut that the shaft is supposed to pass though. Mine was in pretty bad shape. It is now part of the RTV held seal. Does not leak and now works great.
Good Luck.
