In a normal M40 (no overdrive) and/or the rear end....I wouldn't think flushing is necessary. If you do insist on flushing them out, I would think the best option would be getting some flushing fluid, adding it, then driving about for a while, then draining and re-filling.
As I recall, a lot of that stuff is just a kerosene equivelant...but I could be wrong.
And...as for the new oil itself, any old gear oil will be fine for both the trannsmission and the rear end. some sort of 80w90 or whatever. The more you spend, the better you might sleep, but I really don't think it'll make a difference. Just having nice fresh new oil wil make the car happy....
