Rattle on letting go of the gas _could_ indicate busted cat internals (new ones are only about $125 plus shipping from the online places), but before you do that check:
- heatshields
- bracket holding the downpipe to the block/transmission. These often rust off (either the bolt or bits of the bracket on the downpipe), and can cause lots of annoying rattling. I consider it a non-essential part, so if it's bad I tend to solve the problem with an angle grinder applied to the offending bits of downpipe bracket.
- and on a 940 I just fixed there was, for a reason I haven't been able to fathom, a loose hoseclamp sliding up and down the downpipe rattling its little heart out. I'm not sure what previous bodge that used to be a part of, but removal solved the problem.
