heat gauge

I like the "c" & "h" on the heat gauge in my 84 240, can I change the gauge in my 88 to the one in the 84, are they the same? I changed the gauges both the heat gauge and the fuel gauge, but the heat gauge reads between 1/2 and 3/4 when I turn on the key and the engine is cold. Does anyone know if these gauges interchange? I like the letters on them, but I want them to read too. Thanks loads for your help in advance. Wayne
