heat gauge

On my 1981 (RIP) 240 the not-connected or default position of the temp gauge was full hot. Made sense to me - safer than if the no-connect default is full cold. Invisible disaster!

The temp when starting from cold should (w/o temp comp board) rise to almost the red, then drop to normal. This is the normal action of the thermostat.

What you describe is not common. Keep adding info as you test.

Good Luck,

Bob
