F P R removal from 84 240

I am swapping out a fuel pressure regulator and the fpr is hanging up on the fuel rail. I have removed all securing bolts and the rubber hose yet the fpr continues to hold fast to the compression fitting. I do not want to damage the fuel rail or seat by excessive jerking or pulling. Whats up?
