Had the same problem. Ended up being a broken Hall sensor inside the distibutor
cap. It is held on by two rivots. One of the rivots on mine broke so it was sliding around inside the cap on one rivot. You would hit the brakes and it would slide back into place. Turn right the car would either stumble or die completely. Once you hit the brakes and pulled over it would catch and run fine or restart when you tuned the key. Drove me crazy for three weeks until I found it. Something to check out that costs zero to check. Also check the wires that run to it. They are prone to wear and breakage.
