That`s odd, last time I looked at our road signs (this afternoon) here in the UK.we were still using statute miles which are 1760 yards long.
The Australians have gone over to kilometers.
We do, however have to buy our fuel in litres, but everyone still thinks in terms of miles per gallon. By the way, we still use proper imperial gallons in common useage parlance which is the only thing in Britain which is bigger than in the US, except possibly our knowledge of other peoples measurement systems!
