The supercharger works BEAUTIFULLY. It's much better than I can convey by email. Way too cool, plenty fun, really super in several ways (primarily that it makes the car go really really fast, which was the whole idea anyway).
As for the car it lives in... yeah... well. Is this the part where I yell "aaargh"?
Won't go into too much detail right now, but the short story is that something in the engine let go, and then it broke something else, and then some other things got out of whack, and then the engine wouldn't turn over at all any more. This all took place in a matter of a few minutes' running time. We're partway through rebuilding it now and will be replacing some damaged parts: cam, spacer, retaining plate, lifters, pushrods, bearings and the [steel] timing gears. Very thankful that the main and rod bearings, crank, rings, pistons, etc are unscathed. Don't know about the valves and guides yet.
Taking the engine apart has been a lesson. I thought I could build a pretty good B20... but the work that went into preparing this one is WAY beyond my abilities. Amazing attention to detail. Stunning.
The supercharger worked perfectly the whole time. The problem is nearly resolved already.
Until the moment of failure, this setup COMPLETELY ROCKED and I am looking forward to having it back on the road shortly. Got some 1800s to chase down...
Best,
Cameron
