Ive personally never heard of a bad FPR just stopping gas all together from getting to the engine, they will make it run like crap and things along those lines but just cutting fuel all togehter i doubt it, either was there inexpensive to replace and if yours is old you might as well just replace it. Id also replace your fuel filter since you have to get new washers that a high possibility of your problem right there, if its clogged it would also suggest why your spraying gas everywhere.
