Thanks Vortex, I'm actually a moderator of the Volvo Adventures forum... You can see my 144S on the member's page. The car is in daily use, and I have not yet taken the pump apart as I'm a busy man. Hopefully it is just a blocked gauze filter, and I'll have time to look at it this weekend. If memory serves me right it is a Pierburg. Volvo fitted 2 Pierburg models, an AC model, and an SUV model.

To give you an idea of supplier prices in NZ, it is cheaper for me to import a distributor cap and rotor than to buy is at the general car parts store...
