Around here they call that "disturbing the peace" and you can indeed get
arrested for that.
Fortunately I have enough paved driveway to park over a dozen cars and still
get in and out and it is pretty much out of sight. Neighbors are also fairly
cooperative. There is a matter of what a lot of nf cars sitting in the yard
does to the neighborhood's image and consequently property values. In real
estate terms it is a portion of the "Location, location and location" triad
of rules that determine a property's value. If you've ever tried to sell a
house in a bad real estate market you can really appreciate that. When I left
here in 1968 I ended up GIVING my house away, equity and all and still had to
pay several years on a home improvement loan.
Fortunately nobody looks in my 1000 sf garage into which (with some effort)
I can squeeze ONE car when tornados threaten....
